Have you ever woken up with a weight you just couldn’t name? Sometimes, we carry our past failures and daily anxieties like heavy stones inside our chests, letting doubt become the loudest voice in the room.
When I wrote my new song, God Loves Me, it was born out of that exact struggle. We live in a world of hollow noise, where we constantly feel the pressure to earn our place, to perform, and to be wanted for what we do. But the gospel tells a completely different, overwhelmingly beautiful story.
Known Before We Speak
There is a line in the song that says, “Before I ever spoke a word / Before I learned to pray / He knew me by my name.”
It is a profound comfort to realize that God’s love isn’t waiting on us to find the perfect prayer. He knows our hearts, our struggles, and our needs long before we even try to articulate them.
“You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.” — Psalm 139:4 (NLT)
Grace Like a River
So many of us spend our Sunday mornings chasing answers, feeling like we have to clean ourselves up or “do better” to be loved. But the mystery of mercy is that grace comes rolling over like a river—not because of our perfection, but because of His nature. We are wanted simply because we are His.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” — Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
Every Tear Gathered, Every Scar Healed
Perhaps the most deeply personal truth in this song is the reminder of God’s tender care for our pain. The chorus declares: “When I fall and when I rise / Every tear He gathers / Every scar He heals.”
God does not turn away from our brokenness. He doesn’t just love a future, perfected version of you; He loves the you that is reading this right now. He is intimately involved in your healing, and He doesn’t waste a single moment of your pain.
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” — Psalm 56:8 (NLT)
If you are carrying a heavy stone today, I pray the message of this song reminds you to listen for that quiet voice. You are called His beloved. You are found, and never lost.
And more than you could ever measure—God loves you.
