The Only Way, The Only Truth, The Only Life

Welcome to seanjennin.com

Whether you are here to explore my coloring books, listen to my music, or check out my latest art, I am truly glad you stopped by. I put a lot of heart into everything I create under the Seanjennin name, but the page you are reading right now is by far the most important thing I will ever share with you. All the creativity, wisdom, and beauty I try to capture in my work ultimately points back to the Creator who gave it to me. I included this message on my site because this truth changed my life, and I want to share that exact same hope with you.

The Message of the Cross: A Reflection on Isaiah 53

When I consider the message of the cross, I often find myself asking the same question the ancient prophet did: Who has truly believed this message? To whom has the Lord fully revealed the power of His saving arm? The story of our rescue didn’t unfold the way anyone expected; it is a mystery of God’s own design, quietly woven into the fabric of human history.

He didn’t arrive with a grand, earthly entrance. Instead, God allowed His Son to grow up in His presence like a tender green shoot, pushing His way up like a root in dry, unrelenting ground. There was nothing outwardly beautiful or majestically striking about His appearance. He didn’t wear a glittering halo or a royal crown to attract our superficial eyes to Him; He looked just like one of us.

Yet, despite His quiet humility, He was despised and rejected by the very world He came to save. I think of how He was a man intimately acquainted with deepest grief, constantly walking through the sorrows of this life. When He reached out, humanity simply turned its back. We looked the other way, despising the Savior standing in front of us, and in our profound blindness, we did not even care.

What humanity failed to realize was the actual weight He was carrying. It wasn’t His own burden at all; it was our weaknesses He carried, and it was our heavy sorrows that were weighing Him down. In our ignorance, we watched His suffering and assumed He was being punished by God. We genuinely thought He was enduring all those terrible troubles for His own sins!

The truth of His suffering is far more heartbreaking and beautiful. He was pierced for our rebellion, His body utterly crushed for our sins. Every agonizing blow He took was intentionally allowed by the Father so that we could be made completely whole. He endured the whip, stripe by stripe, so that our broken, battered souls could finally be healed.

It is a humbling reality to admit that all of us, much like foolish sheep, had strayed away. I know I have. We all willfully abandoned God’s perfect paths to stubbornly follow our own destructive ways. Yet, in an act of unimaginable, unfathomable love, the Lord took the massive weight of the sins of us all and laid them squarely on the shoulders of His innocent Son.

Under that unimaginable weight, He was oppressed and treated with terrible harshness, yet He never spoke a word in His own defense. He allowed Himself to be led away, just like a gentle lamb walking toward the slaughter. As a sheep stands entirely silent before its shearers, He refused to open His mouth to protest the injustice.

Unjustly condemned by a broken system, He was led away to die. At the time, no one seemed to care that His life was being brutally cut short in midstream, or that He would die without leaving behind a generation of descendants. Though He had done absolutely no wrong and had never deceived a single soul, He was struck down for the rebellion of God’s people, buried like a common criminal, yet placed in a rich man’s grave.

But as tragic as this sounds, it was actually the Lord’s good and perfect plan to crush Him and cause Him grief. It was the only way. Because His life was made the ultimate offering for sin, He did not remain in the grave. Through His resurrection, He will have countless spiritual descendants, enjoying an eternal, endless life as God’s rescuing plan perfectly prospers in His capable hands.

Today, when Jesus looks back on all that was accomplished by His intense anguish, He is completely satisfied. Because of His harrowing experience, God’s righteous servant makes it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He has successfully borne all their sins. The Father has given Him the highest honors of a victorious soldier because He willingly exposed Himself to death, was counted among the worst of rebels, and gave His life to intercede for rebels like you and me. But to truly grasp the magnitude of that sacrifice—and how to receive the gift He purchased for us—we must first understand exactly why we needed rescuing. This journey of salvation is often called the Roman Road, and it begins with a hard but necessary truth about every single one of us…

The Roman Road to True Life

If you are ready to stop running and accept the life Jesus offers, the path is laid out clearly in the book of Romans. This “Roman Road” shows us how to bridge the gap between our struggle and His peace:

  • The Reality of our Condition: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) — We all have “falls” and “wrong thoughts” because we are human.
  • The Consequence and the Gift: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) — The path we take on our own leads to a dead end, but God offers a free exit.
  • The Demonstration of Love: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) — He didn’t wait for us to be “good” to love us.
  • The Response of the Heart: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) — It starts with a belief and a confession.
  • The Promise for Everyone: “For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'” (Romans 10:13) — There are no exceptions. This includes you.

A Prayer of Salvation

Lord Jesus,

I come to You today recognizing that I need a Savior. I know that I have made mistakes and fallen short, and I am truly sorry for my sins. I choose to turn away from my past and my own way of living. I believe that You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross for my sins, and that God raised You back to life on the third day. Right now, I open my heart and receive Your free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Jesus, come into my life, be my Lord, and guide my steps from this day forward. Thank you for saving me and making me a new person.

Amen.

What’s Next? Your Journey Begins

If you just prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, welcome to the family of God! That is the most important decision you will ever make, but it is only the beginning. Walking in wisdom is a daily journey. Here are a few simple steps to help you grow in your new faith:

  • Read the Bible: This is how God speaks to us and gives us wisdom for daily life. You don’t have to understand it all at once, and you don’t have to start on page one. A great place to begin is the Gospel of John in the New Testament—it focuses entirely on who Jesus is and how much He loves you.
  • Talk to God Daily: Prayer doesn’t have to be formal or full of big religious words. It is simply a conversation. Talk to Him about your struggles, your joys, and your questions, just like you would with a trusted friend.
  • Find a Church Family: We weren’t meant to walk this path alone. Look for a solid, Bible-believing church in your area. Surrounding yourself with other believers will give you a place to learn, ask questions, and find encouragement when times get tough.
  • Consider Baptism: As you get plugged into a church, talk to a pastor about being baptized. It is a beautiful, outward declaration to the world that your old life is gone and you are a new creation in Christ.

God has an incredible plan for your life, and His wisdom will guide your every step from this day forward.
