My Time with the Father of All
This piece grew out of my 31 Day Rhythm. It’s the result of those quiet moments where prayer, meditation, and devouring the Word all come together. I’m sharing this because I hope it offers a bit of encouragement to anyone else looking to deepen their walk. Sometimes, we just need to know we aren’t alone in the pursuit.
The Heart of the Matter
Lord, I desire You more than anything on earth. Whom have I in heaven but You? How good it is simply to be near God.
To know the Almighty intimately, I have found I must pull away. Seeking Him is a craft that requires solitude and silence. Just as Jesus often withdrew to solitary places to pray (Luke 5:16), I find it is wise to spend time alone with the Lord. In this quietness, I realize that success in following His will doesn’t rest on my own human effort or “figuring it out,” but on Him alone (Prov. 3:5-6). To know Him is to serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind (1 Chron. 28:9).
But this time isn’t just about silence; it’s about devouring the Word. It is my spiritual nourishment—the fuel for my soul. If you seek Him in His Word, you will find Him, for He promises that those who seek Him with all their heart will find Him (Jer. 29:13). He already sees my heart; He knows every plan and every thought before I even speak it (Ps. 139:1-2).
It is a profound privilege to offer praise to the LORD and raise hymns of worship to the Most High (Psa. 92:1). We are called to continuously proclaim His steadfast love each morning and His enduring faithfulness throughout the night (Psa. 92:2). In times of distress, I’ve learned where to seek divine sanctuary. He is an absolute refuge (Psa. 46:1). When things get heavy, I rest under the shadow of His wings until the storm passes (Psa. 57:1; Psa. 91:4). The LORD is my light, my salvation (Psa. 27:1), and an impenetrable fortress (Psa. 18:2). He guards His own, enabling us to stand firm and unshaken regardless of the trials surrounding us.
The paramount pursuit of my heart is to dwell in His presence perpetually—to behold His matchless beauty and meditate on His character while I study His Word (Psa. 27:4; Psa. 63:2). He is the one who restores a crushed spirit (Psa. 147:3). Think of it: His knowledge is so complete that He names every single star (Psa. 147:4), yet He sustains the humble. When I cry out to Him, He responds, affirming that He alone is the sovereign God (Psa. 50:15; Psa. 86:10).
My earnest plea is for direction: “Teach me Your way, O LORD, and I will walk in Your truth; give me an undivided heart” (Psa. 86:11). When the invitation is extended to “Seek my face” (Psa. 27:8), my soul responds, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” This pursuit is rooted in His covenant care. The Lord asks, “Can a woman forget her nursing child? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you” (Isa. 49:15). His love is more steadfast than even the closest human bond (Psa. 27:10).
So, in the face of all uncertainties, I wait. I take courage and I strengthen my heart (Psa. 27:14; Psa. 31:24). This “waiting” isn’t passive—it’s an act of profound faith, anchored in the certainty that His love is the unbreakable foundation of my hope.
